The objective of this module is to provide the current and prospective EFL teachers with some review and expansion of their grammar knowledge, with information on students’ most common problems with grammar rules, and with actual grammar teaching techniques that all the teachers can use in their classrooms.

Upon completion of the module, the students should be able to:
*identify ELL (English Language Learner) grammar points.
*understand the details associated with each one.
*anticipate common ELL errors by grammar point, by first language, and/or by proficiency level.
*learn specific techniques to make teaching grammar more effective

Course curriculum


2 synchronous hours (on Tuesdays) (Zoom) + 1 asynchronous hour on Moodle


From 8:10 to 9:00 pm


From 9:00 to 9:10 pm – break


From 9:10 to 10 pm

Key to Teaching Grammar to English Language Learners Keith Folse - 2nd edition

Number of hours 48 hours - 2 synchronous hours (Zoom) +1 asynchronous hour on Moodle = 3 hours per week
Course duration 16 weeks - from March 2nd to June 15th
Assessment

Written Assessment


Assessment 1 (25 pts) + Assessment 2 (25 pts) = 50 points


Participation


Self-evaluation  / Attendance (10pts)  + Quality of online participation (40 pts) = 50 points


Assessments (50 pts) + Quality of online participation (40 pts) + Self-evaluation/Attendance (10 pts) = 100 75% - Passing Average 

Admission Policy


To apply for the CTJ TEFL Certificate Course you should:


1. be at least 18 years old;

2. have a High School Diploma;

3. have one of the following certificates to demonstrate your advanced level of competence in English

CAE – Certificate in Advanced English – Cambridge

CPE - Certificate of Proficiency in English – Cambridge

ECPE – Examination for the Certificate of Proficiency in English – Michigan

CTJ 5B certificate*

4. 5B graduate student

*The 5B certificate should be 1 year old max.

If you don’t have any of the certificates above, then you will have to take the CTJ placement test and score post-advanced level.

To successfully complete your learning process over the eight weeks and receive your Certificate of Participation in the Grammar for Teachers Course, you must fulfill the criteria mentioned above (Assessment).
